Western Style Burgers

These open-faced burgers may not be low in calories, but man, are they flavorful! And, of course, the addition of Café Campesino coffee to the recipe makes the dish. You could do one better and choose White Oak Pastures Georgia-grown, humane and grassfed ground beef.

Western Style burgers with coffee infused chili relish

 2 tbsp vegetable oil
 1 large purple onion, peeled and finely minced
 2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely minced
 1 cup chili sauce
 1 tbsp jalapeno relish
 ½ cup leftover Café Campesino coffee
 1 tbsp additional vegetable oil
 1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
 3 hamburger buns, halved and toasted
 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese
For The Topping:

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a medium skillet. Sauté onion and garlic in oil over low heat until soft but not brown.


Add chili sauce and jalapeno relish. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer 5 minutes.


Stir in coffee. Keep on low heat 5 to 10 minutes but do not boil after adding coffee. Remove from heat. Keep warm.

For The Burgers:

Shape meat into 6 thick patties and season with salt and pepper or Coffee Spice Rub.


Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet. Brown in oil over high heat. Turn patties; lower heat. Cook 5 to 10 minutes.


Place on toasted buns. Cover with hot sauce and top with grated cheese. Serve immediately!
